PLAYER ELIGIBILITY:
- All coaches are responsible to see that their roster meets all eligibility requirements and
is in agreement with the rules for out-of-season play that are listed by your state
athletic association. The coach is responsible for providing the appropriate identification
for all of their players (birth certificate, copy of a current year report card, student
picture ID with grade level, AAU membership card,…) for age division verification.
- Age Determining/Grade Exception Rule -------- September, 1, 2010,
shall be the determining date for the age of the competitor (see the age calculator to
determine the appropriate age division of a player). Eligibility to participate is based
first on the age determining date. The grade of the athlete is not a consideration if the athlete
meets the age determining date. An athlete that does not meet the age determining date may
qualify under the grade exception rule. All divisions through and including the
14 & under (8th grade) are allowed a maximum of three grade exceptions. There is no limit of grade
exceptions in the 15 & under (9th grade) and all divisions above it.
DOWNLOAD GRADE EXCEPTION FORM
- Grade Confirmation -------- Players participating under the grade eligibility
exception must present a birth certificate and confirmation of grade level from the
School Administrator (which includes completion of the grade exception form).
Grade level is determined by player's grade on March 1, 2010.
To view all of the eligibility requirements/policies please see the tournament rules.
Please use the AAU age calculator to determine what age division a player is in - based on their birthday.
IMPORTANT!
Please make sure that you hand in your roster when you check-in on the first day of the tournament.
To print out a roster/application see the 2010 AFBE Tournament Application.
